Introduction to Particle Size Analysis
Particle size analysis, particle size measurement, or simply particle sizing is the collective name of the technical procedures, or laboratory techniques which determines the size range, and/or the average, or mean size of the particles in a powder or liquid sample.
Particle size analysis is part of particle science, and its determination is carried out generally in particle technology laboratories.
The particle size measurement is typically achieved by means of devices called Particle Size Analyzers (PSA) which are based on different technologies, such as high definition image processing, analysis of Brownian motion, gravitational settling of the particle and light scattering (Rayleigh and Mie scattering) of the particles.
The particle size can have considerable importance in a number of industries including the chemical, food, mining, forestry, agriculture, nutrition, pharmaceutical, energy, and aggregate industries.
1) Real-time particle size measurement: Being equipped with a high-performance microprocessor, it is able to conduct a real-time, rapid, uninterrupted and continuous in-line detection to the particle size of the material flow to be measured.
2) Wide particle size measurement range: DF-PSI in-line diameter-measuring particle size analyzer can measure the diameters of ore pulp particles in a range from 0.02mm to 1mm.
3) Multi-grade particle size measurement: For each measuring running way, the particle size percentage contents for 2 or more (can be customized) particle size grades can be measured at the same time.
4) Real-time particle size display: Being equipped with a high-resolution color LCD screen, it is able to display a particle size measurement result on the screen in a real-time mode and with a very good intuitional effect.
5) Real-time particle size output: It is able to output a measured particle size percentage content value in a real-time manner and in the form of industrial standard analogue quantity signal (4~20mA).
6) Real-time particle size storage: Being equipped with a large-capacity non-volatile storage device, it is able to store in a real-time manner the measured particle size data for future reference, with a minimum storage capacity of history records for 90 days.
7) Automatic calibration: With a self-contained software engine for mathematical regression analysis, it is able to calibrate and correct system parameters automatically without the aid of the statistical analyzing software from a third party.
8) High adaptability to environment: High temperature(≤ 90° C) environment, highly corrosive environment, free from bubble influence, low influence from large particles, free from magnetic interference influence.
9) Easy for installation and maintenance: DF-PSI in-line diameter-measuring particle size analyzer can be directly installed on the pipe or chute to be measured, with no ore pulp diversion and ore return pipes necessary and the pipe maintenance work saved.
Product Features
· Strong environment adaptability
The detector of PSI is made of heat-resistant material and corrosion-resistant material. It has low requirements on environment and can adapt to harsh industrial environments, for example, high-temperature environment (≤90°C) and highly corrosive environment (alkali).
· No special requirements on composition of measured materials
1. Not influenced by bubbles: PSI is not sensitive to bubbles in measured materials;
2. Less affected by large particles: PSI has low requirements on the content of large particles in measured materials. A few large particle impurities in the materials will not influence PSI obviously.
3. Not influenced by magnetic disturbance: PSI is not sensitive to magnetism of measured materials; the detector of PSI is made of weak-magnetism materials, measured materials need not be demagnetized in advance.
· Wide range of particle size measurement
After one single-model calibration is conducted on PSI, particle sizes can be measured within particle size span range of 20% (min) to 60 % (max).
· Wide size fraction span
PSI is able to measure particle sizes within the range of 20μm (min) to 1000μm (max).

Product Application
PSI is mainly used for particle size measurement. It is able to analyze particle sizes of hard particles in solid-liquid pulp with flow ability. PSI are mainly used for the following industries:
Particle size is an important technical index in ore dressing industry, which has direct impact on energy consumption, efficiency, percent of pass and quality of finished products, etc. During ore dressing process, PSI can be used for ore grinding and dressing fields in the following industries: basic metal industry, ferrous metal industry, industrial mineral industry, gold industry, etc.
PSI can be used for measuring the content of solid impurity in chemical materials or finished products. PSI is made of corrosion-resistant material and can be used in most highly-corrosive environments.
